Lieut. H.R. Kelham

A brief obituary by H. P. Bryson, M.C., commemorating Lieutenant (later Brigadier-General) H. R. Kelham, C.B., who died in October 1932 in his 78th year (p. 183).

Summary

Bryson recalls Kelham’s command of a detachment of the 74th Highlanders at Kuala Kangsar, Perak, in early 1877, and notes his later publications: a series of reminiscences in British Malaya (1928) and an ornithological account in the Ibis (1881–2), which Bryson identifies as the first paper devoted to field notes on Malayan birds to appear in a technical journal (pp. 182–183). Kelham remained a member of the British Ornithologists’ Union until his death.
