Lasianthus barbellatus, a new species from Pulau Tiuman, Pahang

This is a brief taxonomic note by H. N. Ridley describing Lasianthus barbellatus, a new species of Rubiaceae collected from Pulau Tiuman, Pahang (p. 187).

Summary

Ridley provides a concise Latin diagnosis of the species, noting it is a 3-foot shrub with glabrous branches, subcoriaceous leaves that are briefly acuminate and cuneate at the base, glabrous and shining above, and hairy on the major veins beneath, measuring 3.5–4.5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide (p. 187). The note is accompanied by a plate showing a leaf and group of flowers reduced to one-tenth scale.
