A vocabulary of the Dusun language of Kimanis
These are the proceedings of the Annual General Meeting of the Straits Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society, held at the Raffles Museum, Singapore, on 31 January 1896 and its adjourned sitting on 4 February 1896. The document records the officers, councillors, and business transacted at both sittings.
Summary
The first sitting (31 January) recorded the standing officers—President (the Bishop of Singapore), Vice Presidents, Honorary Secretary C. O. Blagden, Honorary Treasurer J. O. Anthonisz, and five Councillors—and a vote of thanks to retiring officers, particularly R. J. Wilkinson and the Rev. G. M. Reith (p. 3). A sub-committee (H. H. Eschke and W. G. St. Clair) was appointed to consider altering results proposed by the late Council and to examine the question of reducing the quorum for ordinary General Meetings (p. 3).
The adjourned sitting (4 February) recorded an amendment to Rule 26 requiring that any proposed amendment to the Rules be stated in the notice summoning the meeting, and a unanimous resolution that ladies—including the Rani of Sarawak—were eligible for membership, consistent with the practice of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland (p. 5).
